RPL recognised at global ‘Ricoh Way Values Awards’
Yesterday, 26 August, Ricoh UK Products Ltd (RPL) was recognised at the Global Production and Technology Division (GPT) Ricoh Way Values Awards.
Connecting with other winners from across the world, RPL was delighted to be the recipient of two awards:
- Bronze Ricoh Way Award – The Irresistible Organisation (Journey of Wellbeing)
- Social Contribution Award – Conquering Tough Challenges to Make a Difference
Once again, RPL was recognised for its Irresistible Organisation strategic approach, in particular for creating a culture that prioritises employee wellbeing.
Mr Watanabe, Head of Toner Production in Numazu, commented: “Congratulations RPL. Your initiative was truly impressive in the way it was developed strategically and systematically, with the goal of creating an attractive workplace where employees genuinely want to work.
“In particular, the ‘Think, Act, Save’ campaign stood out, as it prioritised employee wellbeing even during the difficult times of the COVID-19 pandemic and the rising cost of living, providing generous support without hesitation.
“The impact of these efforts is clearly reflected in the results of the employee engagement survey and being recognised as a leader in wellbeing – both in the community and receiving two additional awards from global external organisations.”
He added: “We look forward to seeing even further progress through your continued efforts to support both employees and the local community.”
For the Social Contribution Award, brothers, Tony Norton-Wilkes (Team Coordinator, Toner Operations) and Cory Norton-Wilkes (Team Leader, Toner Operations) were recognised for their courage, perseverance, and compassion – turning the personal tragedy of losing a close friend to mental health issues, into meaningful and charitable action.
General Manager for ETRIA GPT Headquarters, Mr Murakami said: “We are honoured to recognise Tony and Cory Norton-Wilkes for their remarkable contributions to supporting mental health.
“In 2021, the brothers tragically lost a close friend to mental health issues. Instead of letting this loss define them, they turned it into positive action… To honour their friend, they established a mental health fund to support families and enable access to specialist care, raising donations through inspiring personal challenges.
“Tony first climbed Mount Snowdon, the highest peak in Wales, within two hours, raising £1,280. Then, in 2024, the brothers completed a 100-kilometer walk from Liverpool to Telford in just 22 hours, braving harsh weather and extreme physical strain. This effort raised £2,315 for their fund and the mental health support organisation, Primal Instincts.
“Tony and Cory have undoubtedly turned personal tragedy into meaningful action, inspiring others and making a real difference in the community, through their extraordinary dedication. Thank you.”
Tony and Cory delivered a heartfelt thank you to the organisers of the event, stating: “We’re truly honoured to receive this recognition for our recent charity events. It has been a challenge both physically and mentally, but every step has been driven by our mission to raise awareness for mental health—a cause we’re deeply committed to.
“This is just a stepping stone in our mission, and we’re excited to share our future plans with you once we have everything confirmed. We’re so grateful for your continued support in making a difference together.”
Also reflecting on the awards received, RPL General Manager (HR), Claire James, said:
“In 2017, RPL launched the Irresistible Organisation Model — a people-first strategy based on Deloitte’s research, focused on engagement, retention, and performance, to make a company highly attractive for both current employees and future talent.
“Since then, wellbeing has become central to who we are. We now have Wellbeing Champions and have launched several initiatives which are now proud annual traditions.
“As referenced in the awards ceremony, we were honoured to receive praise from Telford & Wrekin Council, who called our wellbeing practices “best in class.” And in FY24, our efforts earned two prestigious external awards from Ideas UK and Make UK — organisations that support over 20,000 companies.
“This impact didn’t happen by chance. It came from collaboration, belief, and living out the Ricoh Values every day. A huge thank you to everyone involved.”
